Una delle band alt-rock più interessanti degli anni ’10 torna con un nuovo singolo ed importanti sviluppi artistici.
Per i White Lies, il ritorno sulle scene si intitola “As I Try Not To Fall Apart”, canzone che apre la strada all’album eponimo in pubblicazione il 18 febbraio 2022. Una traccia robusta, dove le venature introspettive che hanno da sempre caratterizzato il songwriting del gruppo vengono ammorbidite da suoni pop-oriented che restituiscono positività e speranza. Infatti i diretti interessati hanno così commentato la genesi di questo brano:
Abbiamo scritto questa canzone molto rapidamente, era notte fonda e spesso le canzoni che arrivano più rapidamente sono quelle scritte “di pancia”, con “di testa”. Volevamo che la melodia suonasse come un inno, per dare importanza a un testo intimo nonostante sia “vestito” da canzone pop. Tratta dell’accettazione della vulnerabilità, e sapere che, da uomo, va benissimo star male. Non c’è mai stato un periodo dove sia così alta l’urgenza di far capire che va benissimo ed è normale stare male.
Contestualmente è stato annunciato un tour europeo folto di date. Toccherà anche l’Italia, con l’auspicio che ci sia possibilità di fruirne serenamente. Di seguito le date del tour e il testo di “As I Try Not To Fall Apart”.
